David R. Andes
M.D. David Andes, M.D. is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Medical Microbiology and Immunology, and Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI. Dr. Andes is a clinician scientist with a focus on drug resistant infections. Dr. Andes' research programs are multidisciplinary and strive to identify strategies to combat antimicrobial drug resistance. He is the Director for the UW-NIH Center of Excellent in Antimicrobial Drug Discovery and Development. He has published his research in more than 230 papers, editorials, chapters. The results of these studies have been translated into management guidelines and his scientific approaches are being utilized to identify and develop the next generation of antimicrobial drugs. Dr. Andes is past President of the International Society of Antimicrobial Pharmacology, a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, American Board of Internal Medicine – Infectious Disease Section, the Infectious Diseases Society of American Program Committee, Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute Antifungal Committee, Faculty of 1000, the Mycoses Study Group (MSG) steering committee, and is listed in every edition of Best Doctors in America since 2009. He is Editor of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy and is on the editorial boards of Eukaryotic Cell, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Infection and Immunity, PLoS One, Virulence, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Medical Mycology, Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and Pharmaceutics. |
